2016 Recap: The Top 10 Posts & My Top 3 Books

As we place the lid on 2016, and now cast our eyes to the days and months that lie ahead in 2017, I want to take a moment to recap the last twelve months. I believe if we want to become better, we have to review the work we have done, and celebrate with those that make it happen.

I am humbled and excited at how Living By Christ has grown over the last year, and it’s all because of you friends. Thank you for sharing, Pinning, Liking, and subscribing. Because of your contribution and help, we almost quadrupled total views over 2015.

In case you missed any of them here are the top 10 articles from this last year. Some of them are timeless articles from the archives that continually get read, but some of them are fresh content from this year.

Top 10 Living By Christ Articles Of 2016

Did you get to read each of these this year?

Finally, I know for many 2016 was a rough year, myself included. That’s why this recent guest article by my wife should give you some encouragement. As you begin to traverse this new year keep in mind, you get to be grateful for the unapproved stuff that may come up this year.

My Top 3 Books

This last year I didn’t hit my goal for the number of books I wanted to read, because of school and well distractedness, but I did get through some good reads. I typically alternate between fiction and nonfiction, and some of the nonfiction I read doesn’t apply here. Over all though, these are my top three picks from this last year. They are in no specific order, because they hold their own in their own respective categories.

Tuesdays With Morrie – I didn’t realize this book was about twenty years old, but it is still a powerful book. My wife read it first, and then I took it with me hunting one day, because I knew I would have some down time since I was going to be out all day. I plowed through it in one day. That’s saying a lot for me. I laughed; I cried; and I was forever impacted by some of the lessons in the book. It’s about a young man who meets with his dying professor from twenty years ago. They meet up on Tuesdays and talk about what’s important. If you are looking for a book to alter your view on what’s really important in life, give this a read.

The Mingling Of Souls – This is a marriage book by Matt Chandler. He covers everything from dating to marriage, and “keeping the log burning.” I did a full review on it earlier this year that you can find here. Also, the number one most viewed article from this year was based on a quote from this book I expounded upon. It doesn’t matter if you are married or about to get married, this book is a must read.

Jesus Now – Last but not least, is Jesus Now by Frank Viola. If you don’t already know, I love Frank’s writing and teaching. He is a spiritual mentor of sorts. In this book he covers the often neglected work that the Spirit of Christ is accomplishing today. We often talk about what he did in the past, or will do in the future, but what about today?

Thank you all again  from the bottom of my heart for all of your support. I pray God reveals himself to you in fresh new ways this year. Read some of the top articles, and definitely grab one of these books; you won’t be disappointed. Let’s make it a great year friends.
